'O Lord, How Many Are My Foes' as Written by Chris Eaton

Since I was a child I've been told that singing to God is twice a prayer. Chris Eaton's version of a popular wartime prayer as become my own, as I hear the trumpets make his voice rise to the heavens above. This is how I ask for self awareness today:

O, lord how many are my foes?
Can you smack them with your mighty blows,
And knock the lights out of all of those who dwell in me?

And where’s the one that I love best?
Why have you put me through this test?
Am I Cursed or am I blessed? In this my strike!

O, lord how many are my foes?
Can you count them on your mighty toes,
Or am I the only one of those that’s a threat to me?

For one like me, as troubles double fold
So the story goes, my mother told
Make me strong and make me further bold

To deal with life
